The Hyper HippieJason Cannon was born and raised in Canton, Ohio. Born too late to be a real hippie, he's riding the retro wave for an excuse to shave weekly-if-at-all and never cut his hair.

When he was twelve years old, Jason's family relocated to uber-rural Carroll County, Ohio. It was in the Carrollton School system that Jason had his only exposure to formal art training, spending about two weeks in a seventh grade art class before his teacher removed him, citing a lack of talent. Horribly enough, this same 'teacher' went on to be a high school guidance counselor. To this day, Carrollton grads shudder to think of how much damage this witless guru of guidance has wreaked on promising young lives.

After a few too many years of aimlessly slaving for The Man, Jason began marketing his artwork online in 1998. Since then, he has sold and shipped original works to all fifty states, as well as at least eight foreign countries.

His graphic design work has appeared in national publications such as the Mensa Bulletin, Angels on Earth magazine, and Integra, the Journal of Intertel. He now travels to art shows and festivals exhibiting his work throughout the year.

Jason currently focuses his attention on salvage art and woodworking, hand-building all the frames for his original work, and creating shadowboxes and signature frames for other artists, as well. He goes to great lengths to use recycled and scrap materials as often as possible. Not only does this cut cost and keep his work more affordable, it eliminates waste and saves valuable resources.

Jason is available for commissioned artwork and exquisite custom framing and woodworking projects. He is a Patron Member of the Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts and serves on the Board of Directors for SofIA (Society of Independent Artists).
